Adventure Biking is proven to work, with 95% of our athletes achieving independent riding—a dramatic increase from the 14% national average. With three progressive tiers INTRO, LVL UP, & BLAST, they’ll progress through seven key phases, that develop fundamental biking skills. Our AB Program isn’t just about skill development, it’s about instilling lifelong character traits like perseverance, problem-solving, & self-confidence.

OBJECTIVE:

HOW IT HELPS:

Strong riders start with strong fundamentals. This phase teaches athletes to control their movements with precision, build coordination, & develop balance—all key elements for safe & independent bike riding. By engaging in movement-based activities & interactive drills, your adventure athlete will learn to trust their ability to adapt, respond, & grow through mental & physical obstacles.

OBJECTIVE: Improve body awareness & control, consciously connecting movement with intention.

HOW IT HELPS: Establish multi-tasking movement skills & prepares athletes for future complexities.

Mastering bike control starts with understanding how the body & bike influence movement together. Through intentional effort, your adventure athlete will develop key skills like weight distribution, adjusting posture, & reacting to the bike with agility & precision. By breaking down primary skills into micro-skills & micro-drills, they gain the confidence & trust needed to shift from hesitation to action.

OBJECTIVE: Show athletes how their body is in control of the bikes movement.

HOW IT HELPS: Develops bike handling control, mental confidence, & trust in their ability.

Biking is dynamic, requiring riders to adjust, respond, & process multiple actions at once. In this phase, athletes will train to process cues, react quickly, & honing in on their balance to stay in control. By learning to quickly respond to a coach’s instruction, they will build the self-confidence needed to thrive in unpredictable environments—essential for both safe biking & everyday problem-solving.

OBJECTIVE: Strengthen reaction time of verbal cues & independent decision making.

HOW IT HELPS: Enhances situational awareness for safe biking & real-world decision-making.

Now that athletes understand the fundamentals of biking, it’s time to apply those skills in action. With the support of a coach or parent, they’ll begin riding with intention—starting on their own, navigating short routes, & stopping with control. This phase introduces challenges that will help your adventure athlete trust their training, focus on skill retention, & build the confidence to ride independently without hesitation.

OBJECTIVE: Introduce assisted riding scenarios to enhance skill retention & application.

HOW IT HELPS: Ensures athletes feel confident in their abilities as they prepare to ride independently.

This is the defining moment—when your adventure athlete rides a two-wheel bike on their own. When they see themselves riding independently, it solidifies their belief that they CAN. This phase is about celebration, self-trust, & unlocking a newfound freedom on the bike. With continued coaching, the focus shifts to repetition, increasing distances, & setting intentional riding goals to reinforce perseverance & self-confidence.

OBJECTIVE: Empower the exceptional athlete to ride a two-wheel bike independently.

HOW IT HELPS: Reinforces self-confidence & a sense of accomplishment through perseverance.

Now, it’s time to LVL UP. Let’s inspire your athlete to never stop applying themselves & make riding a bike a life-long pursuit. This means, taking all their fundamental skills & continuing to practice through a multitude of progressive cone drills. They will learn to turn with precision, control their speed, become confident with their decision making skills, & much more—all key elements for overcoming challenges while advancing on the bike.

OBJECTIVE: Develop the key skills to navigate themselves on the bike

HOW IT HELPS: Inspires them to never stop applying themselves.

BLAST is all about taking biking to the next level—applying skills on trail while embracing the thrill of outdoor adventure. Athletes will learn off-road navigation, adjust to terrain changes, & develop speed control. While taking on unexpected turns, climbing inclines, & mastering trail etiquette, they’ll develop confidence in their own ability to explore safely. This is where biking becomes more than a skill—it becomes a lifelong passion.

OBJECTIVE: Build trail-riding confidence & real-time decision-making skills.

HOW IT HELPS: Prepares athletes to enjoy biking beyond the program with family & friends.
